Lifeline Fire & Safety Systems Ltd - quality equipment for Motorsport

QUALITY EQUIPMENT FOR MOTORSPORT

Lifeline have been designing and manufacturing fire safety equipment for well over 20 years. They are seen as the leading player in motorsport when it comes to fire safety.

When the manufacture of Halon type fire extinguishers ceased, Lifeline designed and manufactured a lightweight, environmentally friendly foam based extinguishant known as Zero2000. This system soon spread across the motorsport fraternity and is a very common site in the majority of race cars, both in the U.K. and worldwide.

The fast changing world of motorsport demands the latest technology. With this in mind, Lifeline did not rest on their laurels. Continuing their commitment to research and development, Lifeline wanted to provide the best fire suppression systems whilst keeping weight and size to a minimum. This bred to Lifeline’s Zero360 range of extinguishers.

Rather than using a foam based extinguishant, the Zero360 range use a gaseous extinguishant, meaning the bottle size could be reduced, yet still meeting the stringent FIA approval for motorsport use. For example, a 4 litre FIA Approved Zero2000 bottle measures approximately 300mm long by 150mm in diameter (12 inches by 6 inches). Compare this to an electrically operated FIA Approved Zero360 bottle, measuring just 180mm long by 120mm in diameter (7 inches by 4.75 inches).

The Zero360 range has fast become very popular where weight restrictions are needed to be met and where space is limited. Yet, for some applications, this was still not small enough. So Lifeline went back to the drawing board to see if they could meet this further demand. And sure enough they managed to produce a smaller, and importantly FIA Approved, system now known as the Zero ZERO range.

Taking into account the aforementioned dimensions, a Remote Discharge electrically operated FIA Approved extinguisher bottle measures in at 200mm long, slightly longer than a Zero360 model, yet measures a mere 90mm in diameter. Primarily used in professional GT and prototype race cars, but available for all to use if size is an issue.

To complement their impressive range of fire suppression systems, Lifeline have also designed and manufactured an impressive range of race car essentials such as FIA Approved roll cage padding, FIA Approved rain lights, a large selection of both MSA and FIA Approved mirrors and their market leading quick release steering wheel bosses.

Here at Merlin, we pride ourselves in keeping large amounts of stock, this includes the majority of Lifeline’s products.
